Feeling Adventurous?
If you want to make a vacation out of this trip, especially those from the East Coast (you're already travelling across the country!), you might want to look into a trip to the coast which is just over an hour from Portland, under two from Washougal and is home to awe-inspiring forests unlike any you'd see on the East coast. If you really want to take some time the San Juan Islands in British Columbia are a short day's travel away - or very close if you flew and is a region I'm so glad to have seen in this lifetime.
