Places to Stay in Our Neck of the Woods There will be camping on our property for the more adventuresome, we will have one or two larger communal tents. If you'd like your own tent we ask that you bring one but we will try to have a few on hand. For the rest of you, see the hotels below. |

Best Western - We've reserved a block of rooms at the Parkersville Inn & Suites Best Western in Washougal, WA. Rates should be around a $100 or less. The great thing about this hotel is that it's very close to our house where the wedding will be, about ten minutes away, there will probably be shuttles from hotel to wedding so you won't have to drive since parking is limited at our house. Also its in Washougal, gateway to the gorge, so if you have any extra time you're right at the West end of the Columbia River Gorge, National Scenic Area which is full of awesome things to do and see like hiking, swimming in the river, driving tours to orchards and the nearby town of Hood River, and tons of state parks in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
Camas Hotel - We haven't yet reserved a block of rooms here, so the going rate from their web site seems to range from $74 - $104. This seems like a very nice hotel if you want to stay "in town" (Camas, not Portland). It was recently redone and from what we've seen of the lobby and their web site it looks to be a nice cute alternative to the Best Western. It's about the same distance from our house and has the added benefit of being on a main street in Camas so you can easily walk to some of the new boutiques and restaurants - Harwoods is a great restaurant for higher end dining - in this up and coming little town.
Skamania Lodge- This is the furthest hotel from our house and the wedding, probably a half hour drive, just a little closer than Portland which is about a forty minute drive, but if you want to immerse yourself in the Gorge, it's a good way to go, it has beautiful grounds, a nice restaurant, a golf course and the works. It's that much further into the Gorge so you're that much closer to all the spectacular scenery and hiking.
Bonneville Hot Springs Resort and Spa - Just a little closer than the Skamania Lodge, this hotel is complete with restaurant, spa facilities including massages, wraps, mani/pedis and soaks in the natural Carson's Hot Spring waters. It also has pool and hot tubs and, like the Skamania Lodge, is further into the Gorge so it's great if you want to do outdoor activities.
House Rentals- If any of you have a few days to stay, you might want to rent a house somewhere in the Gorge. This is a link to just one web site which offers vacation rental services, I'm sure there are plenty more if you google it. We do know of one personal friend who rents out her guest house and has a beautiful property wth views of the Columbia and Mt. Hood. If anyone's interested we can ask if it's available. Houses in White Salmon can have amazing views - from the huge bluff where White Salmon sits - of the river and Mt. Hood. Its also across the river from Hood River, which is a fun and young town with a beach, shops, cafes and a lot of windsurfing and kiteboarding. Keep in mind Hood River and White Salmon are a good hour from our house where the wedding will be, but if you only drive to us on Saturday it would probably be well worth a week of vacationing in the Gorge.
